We will be very happy to welcome you in our gîte in the heart of the wide open spaces of the Mézenc plateau. We are situated in the centre of les Estables, in the département of Haute-Loire. It is the highest village in the Massif Central, at 1353 m (4430ft, the altitude of Ben Nevis), at the crossroads of several hiking trails.
We are open all year round so that you may enjoy the countryside to the full. Les Estables borders the natural park of the Monts d’Ardèche. Skiing, snowshoeing, snowkiting, sled dogs in winter, walking, hiking with a donkey, mountain biking, rock climbing and paragliding in summer, there’s something for everyone in Les Estables.

A family establishment, Le Chalet d’Ambre offers you a warm welcome with its cosy living-room with a wood stove, its quiet sitting-room. Altogether a place to enjoy yourself and meet people. We provide locally sourced home-cooked food and cater for vegetarians.
We guarantee a quiet night’s sleep as the church bells are silent between 10pm and 8 am.
